The eternal Word of God is not found in any prophecy or book. Rather, the eternal Word is found in the order of the universe and in the depths of individual consciousness. This is the message of the “Christmas story” found in the Gospel of John. This Christmas story is not the familiar tale of shepherds, wise men, a star, and a manger. Rather, it is a mystical and metaphysical hymn incorporated into the 4th Gospel. The message of that Gospel is that we are essentially divine beings meant to discover our divinity and to do divine works.
