We the members of CFUO believe that black lives matter.

 

We denounce the unjust killings, recent and long past, of African American men and women, whether at the hands of law enforcement or racist individuals.  We further denounce racism, blatant and subtle, conscious and unconscious, individual and systemic.

 

Our country continues to grapple with the effects of racism due to our long and troubled history.We believe that each of us must acknowledge and address the systemic racism that still exists in our country.

 

We must also each examine our own biases, recognize racial disparities, and acknowledge the advantages that they give to some of us. Furthermore, we acknowledge that it is our duty and obligation to speak out against all forms of discrimination against any ethnic or minority group.

 

We understand that this is not a momentary call for action.  Rather it is a call for an ongoing movement to fundamentally reshape American society to create a more fair and just nation.

 

It is our objective, as we do our part to uplift one another, to stand tall in our truth and become an inspiration for universal love and compassion.
