What’s In A Name? How We Name G-dHow is it even possible to give a name to an infinite G-d? After all, all names describe things that are finite, so naming the Divine presents us with a challenge. The solution in trinitarian Christian denominations is to describe three key aspects of G-d: Father, Son, Holy Spirit. In Islam and Judaism there are a hundred names for G-d, each describing some unique aspect of the Divine: Compassionate One, Almighty, Holy One, Creator, Judge, Friend, Master of the Universe, etc.Rabbi David will take us on a journey deep into one of the most enigmatic names of G-d known as the Tetragrammaton, the Four-Letter Name that is not pronounced. By not pronouncing this name, we are able to honor the paradox we face when attempting to give a limited name to an unlimited G-d.
